The municipality has granted USD 6,000 as a contribution towards our annual Viking Festival (Aug. 12.-15). On June 19, there will be yet another festival, then to celebrate a town anniversary.
This year, Tonsberg can celebrate its 1150 years anniversary, which will be marked by a number of smaller and larger events throughout the year. Main theme will be the town´s rich history, through Viking Age, Middle Ages to today´s prosperous town.
The main celebrations will take place during the week end June 18.-20., and on the 19th we will arrange a mini Viking market. There will be market stalls, song and contests, music, rowing and a lot of fun. Everything for free, thanks to another contribution of USD 3,000 from the town council.
We expect both our markets to go as planned, regardless of the corona situation at the time, says Ole Harald Flåten, who coordinates both markets.
– During last year´s market, we had more than 3,000 visitors, and a lot of focus on preventing contamination. The result was zero contamination.
