As part of Eye Wonder Media’s Kensington Rune Stone documentary we visited the Friends of The Viking Ship in Geneva, Illinois to learn about the sailing of a reconstructed 9th century Viking ship to Chicago in 1893. An inspiring story told well by Dave Nordin.
So I wonder what it would be like to fire an arrow from a real Viking ship!?!? Well HereI am shooting from a replica of the Gokstad ship, from my summer working at the Lofotr Viking museum in 2014 What and adventure that was!.
From the area around the Gokstad mound. In Norwegian
Norway is building a new Viking ship museum in order to save its ancient ships from collapsing.
The sea launch of the Gokstad longship replica “Gaia” in Volda, Norway in 1990. Gaia crossed the Atlantic Ocean to USA in 1991. Gaia is now based in Sandefjord, Vestfold.
