The first of (so far) two programs in his new series\u00a0VIKINGS \u2013 the true story<\/em>\u00a0will be launched on Viasat in March (exact date to be decided later). The program follows the\u00a0Viking Trail<\/em>\u00a0through Vestfold and Telemark, from the high plateau Hardangervidda to the majestic Viking graves in Borre. It tells the story of Viking everyday life, from the production of bog iron and tar to boat building and exports of trading goods. And also of the spectacular Viking finds and monuments in this particular part of Norway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nowhere else anywhere in the world can match Vestfold and Telemark\u00b4s Viking attractions, including the Viking shipyard in T\u00f8nsberg and the ships\u00a0Saga Oseberg\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Saga Farmann<\/em>\u00a0and the smaller\u00a0Saga Yngling<\/em>. Another ship, the largest of them all, the\u00a0Saga Gokstad<\/em>\u00a0is under construction.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many known faces appears in the program, including our own \u201cVikings\u201d Trond Borsheim, Ole Harald Fl\u00e5ten, Steinar Lill\u00e5s and Tor \u00d8ydin, who are filmed when navigating down a river in\u00a0Saga Yngling<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 which is filled with trading goods such as sharpening stones and reindeer antlers.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeremy Freeston is a merited TV producer from earlier series like\u00a0Battlefield Detectives, Macbeth<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0The Viking Dead\u00a0<\/em>\u2013 including the program\u00a0Mysteries of the Oseberg.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u00b4s great to produce Viking programs in Vestfold and Telemark\u201d, says Jeremy. \u201cEverything is already there; the ships, the buildings and, not least, the people and the stories.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeremy is already working on his new series. Then he will follow our ship\u00a0Saga Farmann<\/em>\u00a0down the great European rivers to the Black Sea and Istanbul. So just get ready for more fun!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
