Photo: Nina Killie \u00d8ydvin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2022&nbsp;<\/strong>Organised our 7<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;Viking festival with more than 4.000 visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Three new Viking shipmasters have fulfilled their education and been approved by our Shipmasters\u00b4 Board.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Our young blacksmith apprentice Kristoffer Holmvik has passed his exams with honours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Comprehensive filming on board Saga Oseberg for Irish TV series on Vikings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Crew-training weekend on board Saga Farmann. Another training session coming up with three Viking ships: Saga Oseberg, Saga Farmann and Gaia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Town council has started planning the future use of our shipbuilding site, earmarked \u201cViking activities\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Keel-laying for new archaeological replica of the Gokstad ship in Tonsberg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Topping-out ceremony for big Viking frame-building in Sandefjord, to serve as workstation for pre-fabrication of ship parts for new Gokstad. Some 100 guests were attending the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Some 20 Vikings participated in Tonsberg\u00b4s 1150 years anniversary event on October 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Joint research program on wood processing has been established with Norway\u00b4s University of Life Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Spinning of wool from wild sheep for the sail of new Gokstad ship.<\/p>\n\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/osebergvikingarv.no\/eng\/2021\/10\/05\/hectic-autumn-for-vikings\/\" title=\"English\" class=\"current_language\" aria-current=\"page\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/osebergvikingarv.no\/eng\/wp-content\/plugins\/multisite-language-switcher\/assets\/flags\/gb.png\" alt=\"en_GB\"\/><\/a>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The autumn of 2021 has probably been our most hectic period ever.
