This time, the DNB Foundation has granted a full three million kroner. The funds are earmarked for materials, tools, and training of young people in traditional craftsmanship. The first time the Foundation supported Oseberg Vikingarv was in 2010, when they contributed one million kroner towards a handwoven sail for\u00a0Saga Oseberg. Since then, they\u2019ve supported us again and again \u2013 with shipbuilding, the blacksmith\u2019s workshop in Sandefjord, and much more. Alongside the county and municipality, the Foundation is one of our most important contributors. Oseberg Vikingarv is among the select few volunteer organizations that have received long-term support from the DNB Savings Bank Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe wouldn\u2019t have come this far without their help,\u201d says board chair Lars Bill. \u201cThe fact that they\u2019re stepping in once again is simply fantastic. Three million kroner means we can continue inviting young people to learn traditional crafts \u2013 whether as apprentices, volunteers, or in cooperation with vocational schools.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The funds from the DNB Foundation will support ongoing operations, not the expansion of Vikingodden. From the very beginning, we\u2019ve focused on youth and training in traditional craftsmanship \u2013 and now we can strengthen that focus even further. Since 2010, we\u2019ve had four apprentices, the most recent being Emil Dahl, who passed his trade certification in June (see separate article). Now we can truly begin looking for new candidates, while also providing structured training to our many young volunteers. This will take place at our workshops in both Sandefjord and T\u00f8nsberg. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
