They had died at the approximate age of 80 and 50 years, respectively. For a long time, the oldest woman was believed to be Queen \u00c5sa, the grandmother of King Harald Fairhair, and the younger one perhaps her servant. Today, the widespread consensus is that we simply do not know who they were. Both women were about 153 cm tall, and they appear to have enjoyed a rich diet that would have been reserved for the elite. Some of the teeth from the younger woman show signs from the use of toothpicks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/osebergvikingarv.no\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/BOARD-01_1-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-108\" srcset=\"https:\/\/osebergvikingarv.no\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/BOARD-01_1-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/osebergvikingarv.no\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/BOARD-01_1-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/osebergvikingarv.no\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/BOARD-01_1-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/osebergvikingarv.no\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/BOARD-01_1-600x900.jpg 600w, https:\/\/osebergvikingarv.no\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/01\/BOARD-01_1.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/>
The Oseberg women being re-excavated for further research (2007).
(Photo: Einar Chr.
